Amazon Weather near Manaus
Manaus is located in the Amazon River Basin, which has a climate that is typically humid and with rainfall all year round. Manaus usually has daily afternoon rainstorms that are quick and heavy. Aside from the afternoon showers, you can expect tropical temperatures all year, with the average ranging from 27 degrees C/80 degrees F to 32 degrees C/90 degrees F. It never frosts but there are often cold spells during the months between May and September.
Manaus is situated in the central part of the region, making the period between June and September the driest times of the year and the best time to visit. The tropical climate makes it an excellent atmosphere for exploring the city and it's nearby scenery of rivers along with the Amazon Rainforest.
February is also a good time to go if you want to experience Amazonas Carnival and in May, June and July there are several music festivals, including the Ponta Negra and the Amazonas Folklore Festival. If you are interesting in exploring the Amazon the best time to go depends on your interests. From December to March the water levels are lower, which is great for wildlife spotting. The months from June to November are the best times to go for spotting birds because of the rise in water levels. Do try to avoid the rainy season, which runs from April through June.
