Pantanal Weather
The Pantanal is located in the Brazilian Plateau Region, which has a distinct wet and dry season. The rainy season lasts from December to March, and Pantanal usually gets flooded, especially during January and February. The average temperature in the Pantanal is around 80 F, but it can drop to colder temperatures in May and June. January and February are the hottest months, with temperatures rising to 90 degrees.
The best time to visit depends on your interests. Mammals are best observed during the dry season, which runs from July to September, when the animals come out and look for food. The temperature is also pleasant during this time, making boat tours, hikes, and horseback riding an enjoyable experience.
During the full season when the area receives the most rain (December to March) is the best time to observe birds, especially the migratory ones. Transportation might be more difficult during this time, but roads should be accessible all year.
